SikaWall®-178 EXT

HIGH PERFORMANCE CEMENTITIOUS FINISH SKIM COAT FOR EXTERNAL APPLICATION

SikaWall®-178 EXT a high performance cementitious finishing coat specially formulated for skimming of uneven surfaces and filling small holes and bubbles in concrete substrates surfaces. The durable finish with excellent adhesion strength is suitable for external application. Just add water to SikaWall®-178 EXT by mixing with either a hand-held or mechanical mixer to produce a homogeneous paste with good workability.

Usage

SikaWall®-178 EXT is developed as a finish coat suitable for application on concrete substrates surfaces, lightweight concrete slabs, walls, columns and beams. It can also be applied on pre-cast panels, soffits, blockwalls, lightweight autoclaved aerated blocks and rendered surfaces.

Storage Conditions

Store properly in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +10 °C and +35 °C. Keep away from direct sunlight, rain and water.

Application steps

SURFACE PREPARATION

Remove all dust, oil or traces of foreign materials. Dampen the dry concrete or plastered surface before application of SikaWall®-178 EXT.

MIXING

Add approximately 7.5 - 8.75 litres of water to 25 kg of SikaWall®-178 EXT, mix thoroughly using an electrical mixer for 3 to 5 minutes until the desired homogeneous paste is achieved and ready to use.

APPLICATION

SikaWall®-178 EXT is applied using a steel trowel to a maximum thickness of 3 mm and cured under shaded ambient conditions.
Second coat can be applied after previous coat is dry. The total thickness should not exceed 6 mm. It will remain workable for approximately 60 minutes after mixing. SikaWall®-178 EXT can be finished with soft hair brush or trowelled smooth.

 


It is important to protect the product during placement and whilst curing from direct sunlight and wind. This is to prevent rapid dehydration or desiccation (excessive moisture loss).
