2. SikaShield® Bitumen Roofing

SikaShield® bituminous membranes are an excellent solution for durability and watertightness.

Variety
SikaShield® bituminous membranes are available in different application methods (torch, self-adhered, mechanically fixed, hot or cold applied).

Security
SikaShield® bituminous membranes have high resistance to mechanical damage and punctures, are resistant to hail, application shocks and other possible tearing. SikaShield® is trafficable during installation and has a high dimensional stability during all climate changes, guaranteeing its waterproofing properties.

Added Value
SikaShield® can integrate different systems and build-ups, even together with other technologies, always to achieve the required design.

3. Sika® SolarRoof PV System

Photovoltaic System
The Sika SolaRoof® System is a ground-breaking solar solution that combines the proven performance of Sika Sarnafil roof assemblies with the industry’s most innovative PV non-penetrating racking system.

Performance
The Sika SolaRoof® system reduces the amount of required labor by a surface-mounted application via hot air welding to the Sarnafil® membrane without any penetrations. Normally, no ballast is required for installation.

Applications
The Sika SolaRoof® system is versatile, lightweight, wind tested and warranted.

4. Sika Concrete Admixtures & SikaFiber®

Sika Admixtures and SikaFiber®
They can reduce water-cement ratios, accelerate the construction schedule, and increase the safety, as well as life span of the concrete and joint spacing.

Benefits
Reduce carbon footprint, and save time and money by eliminating steel reinforcement, submittals (shop drawings), installation labor and tripping hazards. SikaFiber® can possibly save up to 30% over conventional steel reinforced slabs.

Performance
Sika admixtures can minimize shrinkage, minimize permeability, increase strength. SikaFiber® will reduce cracking. Sika fibers and admixtures can increase durability, sustainability, life cycle and lower concrete maintenance costs.

Applications
Slabs, roof decks, composite metal decks, precast wall panels.

Sustainable Solutions for a Data Center Project

Data center design and construction face significant sustainability challenges, requiring innovative approaches related to energy, durability, CO2 emissions and resource consumption.

Sika has calculated potential sustainability savings and benefits based on a hypothetical data center project with the following details:

Project Criteria
  • Single-story structure with slab-on-ground design
  • Surface area: 25,000 m²
  • Location: Córdoba, Spain (reflectivity benefits of Sarnafil® AT considered)
  • Building lifetime: 50 years
  • Reinforced concrete structure
Sika Products Used
  • Sikafloor® Terrazzo CS-30 flooring
  • Sarnafil® AT-18 roof membrane with DensDeck® Prime roof board and Sarnatherm® PIR insulation
  • SikaProof® A+ 08/12 waterproofing membrane for radon protection
  • SikaFiber® Force, Sika® ViscoCrete® concrete admixtures, and high cement-replacement concrete

Click on the lifecycle image to explore projected benefits of using Sika solutions through the various stages of this hypothetical data center building's lifetime.

Benefits Along All Lifecycle Stages
Product Stage

78 tons of CO2 equivalent saved during production of roofing and waterproofing membrane in comparison to internal/ external reference products**

10% recycled content in roofing membrane

**For the waterproofing membrane, the calculation of CO2 savings was done through Sika's SPM approach by comparing with the internal reference product.
For the roofing membrane, the EPD of the Sika membrane was compared to the EPDs of a competitor’s membranes of equivalent function.

Concrete Production

Estimated savings of 1,000 tons of CO2 equivalent in comparison to concrete without a high-range water reducer

Construction Stage

Waterproofing membrane: possibility for thermal joints, reducing material consumption and waste

About 94 tons of steel reinforcement saved

Low VOC flooring

With the use of SikaFiber® Force, approximately 145 tons of CO2 equivalent saved in comparison to steel-reinforced slab-on-grade

Use Stage

Proven durability for membranes and roof board

Dust-free floor, easy to clean and maintain

With the use of SikaFiber® Force, ability to minimize and control cracking, extension of service life of the structure

Up to 4,355 MWh saved in comparison to an equivalent black bituminous membrane
(energy savings calculated using Sika's Energy Savings Calculator Roofing, ESCR)

Up to 3,090 tons of CO2 equivalent saved in comparison to an equivalent black bituminous membrane

Low VOC and radon protection

End-of-Life Stage

Membranes recycled back into new Sika membranes at the end of the use stage

Sika sustainable solutions can contribute to savings of up to
4,300 tons
of CO₂ throughout the lifetime of a data center like the project detailed above.*

*Calculated based on hypothetical data center project criteria and Sika products used as stated.
4,300 tons of CO2 is equivalent to 6.5 million KWh of electricity saved.

Sika sustainable solutions can contribute to total potential savings of around
13,000 tons
of CO₂ throughout the lifetime of a data center, depending on the location and Sika products used.
