SikaCeram®-100 TTB

HIGH QUALITY CEMENT-BASED TILE ADHESIVE

SikaCeram®-100 TTB is a thin bed cementitious tile adhesive which is formulated with recycled material and is approved by the Eco-labelling authority in Singapore as a sustainable building material. SikaCeram®-100 TTB is ideal for fixing most types of tiles, including ceramic, slates, homogeneous, porcelain, etc. to interior and exterior walls and floors. SikaCeram®-100 TTB is classified as C1 when tested to BS EN 12004 : 2007 + A1 : 2012.

Usage

  • Suitable to lay most types of tiles onto concrete, render, blockwork and rendered brickwork surfaces.
  • Can be used on walls and floors in both interior and exterior applications.
 
  • Can be used with SikaLatex®-751 when fixing dense tiles such as vitrified porcelain to obtain high bond strength and superior performance.
  • Use with SikaLatex®-751 in areas of heavy movement.

Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

All surface must be structurally sound, dry, clean and free from movement, oil, grease, wax and other contaminants.

Painted surfaces must be scabbled / abraded to expose at least 75 % of clean surface. Expansion joints coinciding with joints in the substrate should be incorporated at the design stage at a maximum of 5 metre spacings and must not be tiled over.

Newly rendered surfaces must be allowed to cure for at least 7 days. Very porous surfaces should be primed with Sikalastic®-500 Acrylic Primer AP. Steel trowel finished concrete must be acid-etched or wire brushed prior to tiling.

MIXING

Add SikaCeram®-100 TTB to the liquid component in a pail, mixing continuously until a lump-free, creamy consistency is achieved. Allow the mixture to stand for 5 - 10 minutes, and remix it before use.

 

APPLICATION

  • Spread the adhesive onto the substrate using either a 6 mm x 6 mm to 12 mm x 12 mm notched trowel for wall tiling, or a 12 mm x 12 mm to 20 mm x 20 mm notched trowel for floor tiling. The choice of the trowel should be governed by the size of the tiles, depth of knobs, grooves or ridges on the back of the tiles and the evenness of the substrate.
  • A 6 mm x 6 mm notched trowel is recommended for mosaic tiles.
  • Thicker bed of adhesive allow for better contact to the substrate as well as picking up unevenness especially in the case of slates.
  • Spread approximately 1.2 - 1.5 m² of adhesive at a time. Ensure that the adhesive is wet when the tiles are laid and tapped into position to ensure positive contact with the adhesive.
  • Ensure that there are no voids under the tiles.
  • Do not allow the adhesive to skin over prior to tiling.
  • It is important to butter coat the back of the tiles to improve adhesion and avoid hollowness especially for large format tiles and tiles with grooves and ridges.
  • In cases where the tile has no or very low water absorption rate, or where the the back of tile has been pre-coated with an impervious film that may cause debonding, an adhesion promoter/primer should be applied.
