Sika® Plastiment® VZ

WATER REDUCING AND SET RETARDING

A liquid concrete plasticizer and water reducing agent with set retarding effect.

Sika® Plastiment® VZ provides the following properties:
  • Increased setting time in hot weather. Accelerated hardening after setting.
  • Improved workability without increase water content.
  • Reduced water without loss of workability.
  • Increased strengths.

Usage

Sika® Plastiment® VZ is used as a general purpose admixture where the placing conditions for high quality concrete are more demanding such as :
  • Elevated temperatures.
  • Fair faced concrete.
  • Pumped concrete.
  • Ready mix concrete.
  • Areas where large volumes must be placed at one time.
  • High mechanical strengths are required.

Compatibility

Sika® Plastiment® VZ is compatible with all types of Portland cement including S.R.C.

DISPENSING

Sika® Plastiment® VZ should be dispensed directly into the mixing water prior to its addition to the aggregates.

When accidental overdosing occurs, Sika® Plastiment® VZ does not entrain excessive amounts of air, however the set retarding effect increases. During this period the concrete must be kept moist in order to prevent premature drying out.
Consumption

Recommended Dosage

0.15 % - 0.40 % by weight of cement

The effective dosage of Sika® Plastiment® VZ depends on the type of cement and fine aggregate, in general dosage of Sika® Plastiment® VZ is in the range of 0.15 % - 0.25 % for concrete having low absorption fine aggregate.

The dosage rate can be increased to 0.60 % to overcome difficulties in quality of cement and aggregates, high temperature and difficult placing conditions.

Concrete trial mix shall be carried out to confirm the effective dosage and its effect to concrete properties
