Sikalastic®-683 SG

(former Davco® K10 Polyurethane Eco)

WATER-BASED WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE

Sikalastic®-683 SG is a flexible, water based polyurethane modified, elastomeric waterproofing membrane that is free of tar, bitumen, solvents or any
hazardous substance. It is approved by the Singapore Eco labelling authority as a sustainable building material.
In addition to having high elongation, Sikalastic®-683 SG is non-blistering and UV resistant, with fast drying characteristics. It can be applied on damp
surface making it ideal for use as a concealed waterproofing system for terraces and rooftops.

Application steps

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

Concrete, Render and Lightweight blocks

  • All new concrete slabs must be allowed to cure for at least 6 weeks. New render surfaces must be allowed to cure for at least 7 days.
  • Old concrete / render substrates must be cleaned with a strong commercial grade detergent or degreaser, then thoroughly wash off all residue with clean water. Allow the surface to dry for at least 24 hours.
  • Prime the surfaces with Sikalastic®-500 Acrylic Primer AP prior to applying Sikalastic®-683 SG.


Metal Surfaces

  • All metal surfaces must be totally free of rust.
  • Prime metal surfaces with Sikalastic®-3 Primer XP or equivalent

APPLICATION

  • All surfaces to be treated must be as clean and dry as possible. It may be necessary to brush areas where dirt or scale cannot be removed, with a stiff broom.
  • Check surface for cracks, splits, flashing, coverings, etc. Where cracks exceed 1 mm, they must be filled with fabric matting, followed by a liberal application of Sikalastic®-683 SG.
 
  • Prime the surfaces with Sikalastic®-500 Acrylic Primer AP prior to applying Sikalastic®-683 SG.
  • Sikalastic®-683 SG should be applied directly from the pail.
  • Apply one coat of Sikalastic®-683 SG to the whole area and allow to cure, approx. 2-4 hours. (Temperature dependent) Apply the 2nd coat in a perpendicular direction to the 1st coat.
  • All joints in floors should preferably be treated with additional coat of Sikalastic®-683 SG.
  • Sikalastic®-683 SG can be applied by brush or roller. Normally a minimum of 2 coats is required, unless a trowel method of application is adopted.
  • Where Sikalastic®-683 SG has to be applied to above a height of 500mm from the floor level, a wire-mesh is recommended to be fixed prior to applying the protective render to prevent cracking and to improve adhesion.
  • Ponding should be carried out at least 48 hours after the final application of Sikalastic®-683 SG.
  • Sikalastic®-683 SG is not to be used as a trafficable top coat. It is not resistant to permanent UV exposure and weathering.
