APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
PREPARATION OF TILE SURFACE BEFORE GROUTING
- Substrates must be free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease and loose friable material.
- Substrates must be free of standing water (no puddles) clean and free of all contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings, laitance, surface treatments and loose friable material.
- All dust, loose and friable material must be completely removed from all surfaces before application of the product and associated system products, preferably by industrial vacuuming equipment.
- To confirm adequate surface preparation and Product adhesion, carry out a small trial before full application together with adhesion tests as required.
- Grouting may commence the day after the adhesive has set but within 7 days of tiling completion.
- When using Davco Rapidbond rapid setting adhesive, grouting may commence immediately after the adhesive has set.
APPLICATION
- Pour Davco® CFG Additive into a clean mixing bucket. While stirring, gradually add the powder component, stirring continuously until a lump-free, pasty consistency is achieved.
- Use a rubber float or squeegee to work the grout into the joints in a diagonal motion, making sure that the grout is deep in the joints and not sitting on top of the joints. I.e. the grout does not bridge the joints.
- Remove excess grout from the surface of the tiles with the rubber float or squeegee using a diagonal motion to avoid dislodging the embedded grout.
- Grout up to 2 to 4 m² surface area at a time.
CLEANING
- Ideally with a two-man team. One to grout and one to clean up to reduce the chance of the grout drying on the tiles.
- Use a damp sponge to clean up the remaining grout on the tiles. Ensure that the sponge is kept clean by changing the water regularly.
- For best result, use warm water.
- Do not flood the floor with water.
- After the grout has dried, the tiled surface should be cleaned with damp cloth followed by a clean dry cloth for a final polish.
- With anti-slip or textured tiles, pre-test the cleaning method before attempting to grout.
- Allow the grout to cure for 12 hours (depending on surrounding conditions) before exposing to the intended environment.
CLEANING OF TOOLS
Clean all tools and application equipment with water and mild detergent immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
