Sika® Stabilizer-4 R

Viscosity modifying admixture

Sika® Stabilizer-4 R is a concrete admixture that increases the stability and cohesiveness of concrete and mortar mixes. It has been specially developed for Self Compacting Concrete (SCC). Sika® Stabilizer-4 R also improves the fresh concrete properties of mixes with varying fines content, low cement content or concrete mixes with unfavourable grading curves.

Storage Conditions

The product must be stored in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +30 °C. Always refer to packaging.

Concreting Guidance

The standard rules of good concreting practice, concerning production and placing must be followed.
Laboratory trials must be carried out before concreting on site, especially when using a new mix design or producing new concrete components.
Fresh concrete must be cured properly and curing applied as early as possible.

Concrete Mix Design

The quantity of Sika® Stabilizer-4 R in the mix design must be taken into consideration when determining the quantity of water for a specific w/c ratio.

When using Sika® Stabilizer-4 R, a suitable mix design must be calculated. The local material sources used within the mix design must always be trialled and approved for suitability before commencement of the project.

Application

Compatibility

Sika® Stabilizer-4 R may be combined with many other Sika® products. Combination with other admixtures may affect the amount of air entrained into the concrete.

Trials must always be carried out before combining products in specific mixes. Contact Sika Technical Services for additional information and any specific combinations.

Dispensing

Sika® Stabilizer-4 R must be measured using suitable equipment then mixed with the batching gauging water or both added together at the same time into the batching plant concrete mixer.

It may also be added to the concrete in the drum of a ready mix truck at the jobsite. In this case, an additional mixing time of at least 1 minute per m3 of concrete must be completed before placement.

Restrictions

Sika® Stabilizer-4 R must not be added to dry cement.

Overdosing may result in retardation. For optimum dosage, trials are recommended.
