Water reducing and set retarding concrete admixture

Usage

Sika® Plastocrete® R-6 is used where high quality concrete is required in difficult conditions, such as:
  • High temperatures
  • Long distance between batching plant and site
  • Ready-mix concrete
  • Prestressed concrete
and whenever high quality dense concrete is required

Storage Conditions

Store properly in original, unopened and undamaged sealed packaging in dry conditions at temperatures between +5 °C and +35 °C. Protect from direct sunlight and frost.

Compatibility

Sika® Plastocrete® R-6 is compatible with all types of Portland cement including Sulphate Resistant Cement (SRC), blends of ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), and fly ash with OPC. For more specific requirements, please contact our Technical Service Department.

 

DISPENSING

Sika® Plastocrete® R-6 should be dispensed directly into the mixing water prior to the addition of other concrete components such as coarse aggregates, sand and cement. Accurate dispensing equipment is readily available from Sika.
Consumption

Recommended Dosage

Sika® Plastocrete® R-6 is normally dosed at 200–800 ml per 100 kg of cement. Actual dosage rate required will depend on:

  • Effect required (slump retention, strength, etc.)
  • Quality of cement and aggregates
  • Water-cement ratio
  • Temperature

It is advisable to carry out trial mixes to establish the dosage required.
