SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND GREEN BUILDING INITIATIVES IN SINGAPORE

The Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) forges public-private partnerships to foster innovative industry solutions across the entire building and construction value chain. Developed by a broad group of industry experts and is widely recognised for its comprehensive coverage of sustainability criteria that has been developed by the building industry, for the building industry.

SGBC is the first dedicated Certification Body for Green Building-related Products and Services in Singapore to support Singapore's Building, Construction Authority (BCA)'s Green Mark scheme and the first Asian member of the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), to organize the WorldGBC International Congress.

SGBC’s certification scheme was launched in 2010, aiming to raise the environmental standards of building products and services, and to provide benchmarks on environmental performance of products and services. The scheme is well-recognized by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), Housing and Development Board (HDB) and other Public Agencies, and can be accorded additional scores under the BCA Green Mark scheme.

With sustainability being one of the pillars of our growth strategies and clear focus in our product development, Sika (Singapore) Pte Ltd was one of the pioneers to join this scheme in 2010 and has been nominated as an established member since.
